Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot started Indira Rasoi Yojana with 358 kitchens in 213 urban areas of Rajasthan, which has now grown to 1000 kitchens as announced in the budget. On 18 September 2024, 512 new Indira Rasoi kitchens were opened in Jodhpur. Currently, 870 kitchens are running, managed by various NGOs selected by district-level committees led by district collectors. So far, 7.01 crore meal plates have been served under Indira Rasoi Yojana 2025, achieving 72.32% of the target. The government now plans to serve 1.34 lakh people daily and 4.87 crore people annually.

Indira Rasoi Yojana Renamed in Rajasthan

On 6 January 2024, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced the renaming of Indira Rasoi Yojana to Shri Annapurna Rasoi Yojana in Jaipur, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This change came after the new government found some issues in the old scheme and decided to make improvements. Under Annapurna Rasoi Yojana, food and snacks will be delivered to those in need through vans, making it easier for poor and at-risk people to get meals.
