Overview of Antyodaya Anna Yojana 2025

Through this scheme, eligible poor families get an Antyodaya ration card. They can buy up to 35 kg of ration every month, which includes 20 kg wheat and 15 kg rice. Wheat costs just ₹2 per kg and rice ₹3 per kg. This scheme supports those without a stable income or who are very poor. It was started by the Government of India on 25 December 2000 through the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Originally, it covered 10 lakh families. Now, disabled persons are also included among the beneficiaries.
