One Nation One Ration Card Scheme lets ration card holders buy subsidized food grains from any Public Distribution System (PDS) shop anywhere in India. This was announced by the late Food and Public Distribution Minister, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan. This scheme makes it easy for people to get their ration without any trouble, no matter which state they are in. One Nation One Ration Card Scheme 2025 Overview
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has supported this scheme to help poor people during times like lockdowns by making ration available everywhere. About 23 states help 670 million people through this program. Nearly 83% of PDS beneficiaries are covered, and by March, all eligible beneficiaries are expected to be included. Any citizen can buy ration at fair price shops across the country with their ration card.

Format for One Nation One Ration Card
The central government has given a standard ration card format to states and Union Territories. Features:
- Minimal required details included, with option to add more as per state needs.
- Cards are issued in Hindi, English, and local languages.
- Each card has a 10-digit unique ration card number: first 2 digits state code, next 2 digits ration card number part.
- An extra 2-digit code is added to create unique IDs for family members.
Selection Process for One Nation One Ration Card Scheme
Ration cards come in two categories based on income – Above Poverty Line (APL) and Below Poverty Line (BPL). The selection is based on this:
- APL Category: For families living above the poverty line. Eligible for APL ration card and may apply accordingly.
- BPL Category: For families below the poverty line. Eligible for BPL ration card and should apply.
How to Apply for One Nation One Ration Card Scheme?
If you have a ration card, you don’t need to apply online or offline separately. The central and state governments link beneficiaries’ ration cards with their Aadhaar numbers automatically. Records are checked and integrated under the Integrated Management Public Distribution System (IMPDS). Once linked, you can buy ration from any PDS shop across India.

- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
