Why Was This Scheme Started?
Because of the coronavirus outbreak, India had a lockdown that made it hard for daily wage workers to earn money and support their families. To help with this, the Madhya Pradesh government introduced this scheme to give Rs 1000 financial support so laborers can buy essential food and needs.
Benefits of the Madhya Pradesh Majdur Sahayata Yojana
- All daily wage laborers like rickshaw pullers, waste pickers, and other workers in Madhya Pradesh can get this benefit.
- The government sends Rs 1000 directly into the bank account of each registered laborer.
- No need to go anywhere; the money is sent through direct bank transfer (DBT).
- Applicants must have a bank account linked with their Aadhaar card.
- Tribal families in the state will get an advance payment of Rs 2000 for two months.
- Pensioners under social security schemes will receive two months’ advance payments.
Other Government Announcements
- CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a special help package for those affected by the lockdown. About 46 lakh pensioners in Madhya Pradesh who get Rs 600 per month under social security schemes will also receive two months’ advance payment.
- Specific tribal communities like Sahariya, Baiga, and Bharia will get Rs 2000 advance in their bank accounts. The government has set aside Rs 2.2 crore for this support.
