Khelo India University Games 2025 will take place in Uttar Pradesh, marking the first time this state hosts the event. The 10-day sports festival is expected to start around May 25, 2025. Before the games begin, the logo, mascot, and anthem will be revealed at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. Host Cities and Venues in Uttar Pradesh
Four cities in Uttar Pradesh will host the games: Gautam Budh Nagar, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Lucknow. Lucknow will welcome about 12 sports events across eight venues. For example, the Babu Banarasi Das (BBD) University cricket ground will hold archery competitions. Judo and Mallakhamb events will happen on BBD University’s main field, while volleyball and fencing matches will be at the indoor arena in Ekana Sportz City.

Khelo India University Games is a national multi-sport event that brings together Indian university athletes. The games aim to find young talent aged 18 to 25 and get them ready for big international events like the Olympics and Asian Games. Odisha hosted the first edition in 2020, which ran from February 22 to March 1, and the second edition was held in 2024. The third edition, in 2025, is coming up soon.
First Edition Highlights (2020)
The first Khelo India University Games, held in Odisha, included 211 events across 17 sports. Nearly 4,000 athletes from 176 institutions participated. Venues included SAI International Residential School, JNL Indoor Stadium, SAI-Odisha Badminton Academy, and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology. Athletes competed for 206 gold, 206 silver, and 286 bronze medals.
