Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Yojana is a scheme started by the Rajasthan government to help and promote digital literacy among women in the state. Through this scheme, free smartphones will be given to women and girls of Rajasthan. This plan was announced in the Chief Minister’s budget speech to provide smartphones with internet connectivity to women heads of Chiranjeevi families. The Indira Gandhi Smartphone Yojana was launched on 10 August 2024. Under this scheme, smartphones will be given to women from Chiranjeevi families as well as girls studying in classes 9th to 12th and college. Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Yojana 2025 Details
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot started the Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Yojana to provide internet-connected smartphones to women heads of Chiranjeevi families. Along with these women, girls studying in 9th to 12th classes and higher education institutions will also get smartphones. The government began this scheme from 10 August 2024. Giving smartphones will improve digital knowledge of female students and make sure girls coming from far places stay connected to their homes and schools. Along with the phone, beneficiaries will get 3 years of free internet.
The government plans to hold distribution camps in different stages. More than 1.3 crore women and girls of Rajasthan will receive smartphones. Private and government telecom companies will provide smartphones with SIM and data connectivity to the beneficiaries. The first phase distribution camps started from 10 April at district and block levels.

Purpose of the Scheme
Rajasthan wants to empower mothers, sisters, and daughters by making them digitally literate so they can benefit from various government schemes and manage banking on their own. With free smartphones, women and girls will become independent and confident.
Distribution Camps at District and Block Levels
Women don’t have to go anywhere to apply for this scheme. The government will organize camps at district and block levels where women and girls can apply easily. Beneficiaries must carry their Jan Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Pension PPO number, and for students, their school or college ID or enrollment card is needed. Applicants under 18 must bring documents of the family head.
Number of Beneficiaries in Each District
In Kota district alone, 70,130 women will get smartphones. This includes 30,336 in Kota city and thousands more in surrounding blocks like Itawa, Kaithoon, Ramganj Gaddi, Sangod, and Sultanpur. Government school and ITI girls, widows, and women working under MGNREGA will get preference.
Camp Notifications via Mobile
Eligible beneficiaries will be informed about camp location and dates via SMS on their registered mobile numbers linked with Jan Aadhaar Card. Local authorities will also personally notify families.
