Recent Update (22nd Sept) – Applications Open for the Single Girl Child Scholarship
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that applications are now open for the Single Girl Child Scholarship for 2025. The renewal portal for current scholarship holders has also been activated. The deadline for submitting your application online is October 18, 2025. Under this scheme, eligible candidates will receive financial support of ₹500 per month, provided for a maximum duration of two years. This scholarship is exclusively for Indian citizens.

Eligibility Criteria for the CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme
To apply for either the first-time or renewal scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- For New Applicants:
- Single girl students who achieve a minimum of 60% marks in the CBSE Class X examination and are enrolling in Class XI or XII in a CBSE-affiliated school, with a tuition fee not exceeding ₹1,500 per month are eligible. The tuition fee can only increase by a maximum of 10% over the next two years.
- NRI candidates are also eligible, with a maximum tuition fee of ₹6,000 per month.
- The scholarship is open only to Indian nationals.
- The student must continue her education in a CBSE-affiliated school for Classes XI and XII.
- The applicant must pass the CBSE Class X examination.
- Scholarship recipients can still benefit from additional perks offered by their school or other organizations.
- For Renewal Applicants:
- The applicant must have received the CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship in the previous year.
- Must have been in Class XI under CBSE during the last academic year and achieved at least 50% marks, moving on to Class XII.
- Tuition fees for Class XI should not exceed ₹1,500 per month during the academic year.
- The total increase in tuition fees over the next two years must not exceed 10%.

Duration of the Scholarship
Renewal and duration guidelines for the scholarship are as follows:
- The scholarship can be renewed for one year, based on successful completion of Class XI.
- Renewal is contingent upon advancement to the next class, provided that the scholar maintains an aggregate score of 50% or higher on the promotion exam.
- If a scholar opts to change her course of study or school before completing her studies, the continuation of the scholarship will need approval from CBSE. Good conduct and regular attendance are mandatory for maintaining the scholarship status.
- All decisions made by CBSE regarding scholarship matters are final and binding.
- Once canceled, a scholarship cannot be renewed or reinstated.
Selection Criteria for the Scholarship
Applicants must adhere to the following selection criteria:
- The student should have passed Class X with a minimum of 60% marks from the CBSE.
- Must be enrolled in Classes XI or XII at a CBSE-affiliated school.
- The applicant must be the only child of her parents.
- A notary-attested affidavit must be submitted according to the format available on the CBSE website.
- Photocopies of the affidavit will not be accepted.
- The affidavit should be verified by the principal of the school where the student is pursuing Class XI after passing Class X through CBSE.
- The monthly tuition fee must not exceed ₹1,500 for Class X with a permitted enhancement of up to 10% for Classes XI and XII.

- To make a new application, click on the option SGC-X – Fresh Application.
- For renewal, select the option SGC-X – Renewal.
- Provide your roll number and date of birth for verification.
- Click on Proceed to continue.
- You can select Upload Documents to submit the necessary documents.
- Finally, choose the option to print the “Confirmation Page” and save it for your records.
- First-time applicants do not need to send the confirmation page to CBSE but should keep it as proof of application submission.
- Only applicants who have successfully completed their application can generate a confirmation page.
- Renewal applicants must send a printed copy of the application form along with documents in an envelope marked “APPLICATION FOR CBSE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP FOR SGC X (RENEWAL-2025)” addressed to “ASSISTANT SECRETARY (SCHOLARSHIP), CBSE, SHIKSHA KENDRA, 2 COMMUNITY CENTRE, PREET VIHAR, DELHI 110 092”.
