YSR Housing Scheme 2025 – Main Information
The Andhra Pradesh government started the second phase of the YSR Housing Scheme on 25th December 2024. This phase plans to build 28.3 lakh houses over the next three years. Most of these houses will be given to women beneficiaries across the state, totaling around 30,75,755 houses. The first phase built about 16 lakh houses, spending Rs 28,800 crore, with each house costing about Rs 1.8 lakh.

What the Smart Town Scheme Offers
This scheme is part of the YSR Housing plan, aiming to provide developed living areas with essential facilities such as:

Eligibility for Smart Town Scheme
- Must be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh
- Applicants with an annual income between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 18 lakh qualify

- Income from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 12 lakh gets a 200 sq yard plot

Features of Smart Town Scheme
This scheme gives plots to middle and low-income groups who do not own a home. Government employees are also welcome. Plot sizes vary based on income, ranging from 150 to 240 square yards. All neighbourhood facilities will be provided, and locations will be near municipal corporations. A demand survey will be done before starting the application process, which will be open to eligible citizens across the state.
YSR Pedalandariki Illu Housing Scheme
This scheme started on 25th December 2020. It offers free houses to 30.6 lakh identified beneficiaries throughout Andhra Pradesh. The government provides legal land documents for houses built in areas without disputes. The Chief Minister has directed local officials to complete all preparations and hand out housing sites quickly, even taking steps to remove court stay orders where needed.
House Construction and Distribution Details
This housing scheme will be done in two phases:
- Phase 1: From December 25, 2024, to June 2024, about 15.1 lakh houses.
- Phase 2: Expected to be finished by June 2024, about 13 lakh houses.
Each house costs about Rs 1.8 lakh and is given free to beneficiaries. This scheme aims to boost the state’s economy and create more jobs.
AP YSR EWS Housing Scheme 2025
Started by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on 12th July 2019, this scheme provides homes to poor families who cannot afford their own houses. It’s one of nine major promises from his election campaign, named after his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The scheme includes programs like YSR Economic Weaker Sections Housing Scheme, PMAY-YSR Urban & Rural Housing Schemes for EWS, MIG, and LIG groups.
YSR EWS Housing Scheme
This program targets the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of Andhra Pradesh. The state government has set aside Rs 1280 crore to provide permanent houses to all eligible beneficiaries.
YSR Urban Housing Scheme (PMAY)
This scheme is a joint effort of the central and state governments to provide permanent houses to poor, middle, and lower-income families in urban areas. The central government has approved Rs 5000 crore, while the state allocated Rs 1000 crore to support this scheme, aiming to develop the state’s urban areas by 2024.
PMAY-YSR Rural Housing Scheme

YSR Jagananna Colonies Scheme
On July 8, 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the YSR Jagananna Colonies Scheme. This program will give land and legal documents to eligible beneficiaries for house construction. The government has identified around 60,000 beneficiaries, with 10,000 applications under review. The initial project area is in Pulivendula town, Kadapa district, covering about 255 acres with nearly 95,549 plots.
Facilities in Jagananna Colonies
All houses built under the YSR Housing Scheme in these colonies will have access to roads, electricity, drinking water, and social facilities such as schools, Anganwadi centers, parks, clinics, and ward secretariats. Roads will be well-lit and designed to create a pleasant environment. The colonies will have underground drainage systems and well-planned green spaces.
- The Chief Minister has asked officials to design attractive colony entrances and plant saplings carefully.
- Residents shared suggestions before January 20, 2024.
- Road repair contracts worth Rs 560 crore were finalized before January 10, 2024, with work starting soon after.
- Land near Rythu Bharosa Kendras and village centers will be used for warehouses, markets, and storage facilities.
