Second Phase of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

On April 25, 2018, the Ministry of Human Resource Development launched the second phase of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. In this phase, 750 higher education institutes’ students across India are set to adopt villages to help develop them. Colleges and universities actively participate in this phase, totaling 748 institutions: 313 technical and 292 non-technical.

The Ministry encourages these institutions to work closely with local village councils and stakeholders to understand and solve ongoing problems using their expertise.

Main Objectives of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Yojana

Many rural villages in India still fall behind in development and education. To fix this, the Government started Unnat Bharat Abhiyan to provide education and help villages grow by using modern technologies. The program connects higher education institutions with villages to promote economic and social growth. It brings villages closer to progress through support from educational and research organizations.

How Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Works

The government selects some higher education institutions for this mission. Expert groups and regional institutes guide these institutions. IIT Delhi acts as the National Coordinating Institute. These chosen institutes gradually adopt villages and study their local challenges. Then, they work on solving those problems with support from district officials and representatives.
