Through these schemes quality education is ensured for the students. The Ministry Of Social justice and empowerment have recently launched a scheme called SHRESHTA scheme. About SHRESHTA Scheme 2024
The Ministry of Social justice and Empowerment have launched SHRESHTA scheme for residential education for SC students in High School in targeted areas. Through this scheme, scholarships will be provided to the beneficiaries that will cover all the educational expenses of meritorious students from class 9th to 11th. Only students belonging to scheduled castes will be able to take benefit from this scheme. The government is going to roll out the scheme in the academic year 2024-25. In order to take advantage of this scheme, students are required to give an entrance examination known as NETS or the National entrance test for SHRESHTA. It is basically a national-level test that the national testing agency conducts in a computer-based mode.
177 Private Schools Selected Under The Scheme
As you all are aware that the Union Minister for social justice and empowerment Virendra Kumar has launched the SHRESHTA Scheme in order to provide quality educational opportunities to the poorest SC students. The government has identified 177 private schools. Around 1300 seats in grade 9 and 1700 seats in grade 11 are reserved for the students in these schools under the scheme. Scheduled caste students from across states and union territories are selected through a transparent mechanism of the national entrance test for SHRESHTA which is conducted by the National testing agency.
The exam will be a computer-based test and the admission to schools will be based on the merit obtained in this test. All those students that will be selected through the exam will be offered a choice of school through a web-based counselling system. This scheme will cover school fees and hostel fees. The scholarship amount under this scheme for grade 9 is Rs 1 lakh, for grade 10 is Rs 1.10 lakh, for grade 11 is Rs 1.25 lakh and for grade 12 is Rs 1.35 lakh per annum.

Last Date For Correction Extended
The last day to make corrections in the applications has been extended by the national testing agency for the admissions in classes 9th and 11th. Now students can make corrections in their Application form from 16th April 2024to 18 April 2024. This information has been shared through official notification from the National testing agency. The students can edit their application forms on the official website till 5:00 p.m. of 18th April 2024. It is advised that all the students carefully make corrections in their applications as no further chances of correcting their application will be provided.
The parents are also advised to keep visiting the official website of NTA for receiving all the latest updates. Around 3000 seats will be provided to classes 9th and 11th which will be fully funded by the central government. The exam will be held online on 7th May 2024and there are no exam fees to appear in the exam. All the students of states and union territories can appear for the exam(as per their eligibility criteria). The medium for the exam will be Hindi and English
Residential Schools Under SHRESHTA Scheme
All those students who qualify NETs exam will be shortlisted for admission to CBSE-affiliated schools. Through this scheme, scholarships will be directly disbursed to the schools that are giving admission to the shortlisted students. This scholarship will cover school fees and hostel fees. This scheme is applicable only for the residential schools which are affiliated with CBSE up to class 12th, are in operation for five years or more with a 75% pass percentage or more in class 10th and 12th in the last three years. The interested residential schools are required to submit their online consent by 25th March 2024.

Objective Of SHRESHTA Scheme
The main objective of the SHRESHTA Scheme is to ensure that all the students belonging to the scheduled caste category will be able to get an education without worrying about financial expenses. The government is going to fund school and hostel fees through this scheme. With the implementation of this scheme, the literacy rate of the country will be improved. Other than that students will not be required to depend on anyone for their education expenses as the government will bear their educational expenses. This scheme will make students self-dependent. Instructions Regarding The Scheme
- The exam comprises of one paper having four sections of mathematics, Science and social science, general awareness
- This paper will be conducted for admission in best private Residential School in the country under the residential education for students in High School in targeted areas
- Entrance exam paper will be based on NCERT syllabus of class 8 for admission in class 9, class 10th syllabus for admission in class 11th
- Those students who have passed or appearing in class 8th or 10th in the academic session 2024-25 for taking admission in class 9th or 11th are eligible to apply under this scheme
- The paper will be conducted in Hindi and English mode
Some Important Instructions For The Candidates
- Candidates are advised to report at the examination centre two hours before the examination
- The students should also bring their SC certificate for verification
- After the opening of examination hall Candidate should take their seats immediately
- If the candidates does not report in time due to any reason then they are likely to miss some of the important instructions to be announced in the examination centre
- The agency will not be responsible for any delay
- Candidates are requested to carry admit card and show it on demand
- Students also have to carry a valid photo ID to the examination centre
- A seat indicating the roll number will be allotted to the each candidate
- If the candidate does not sit on the seat allotted to him or her then he or she could face cancellation of candidature
- It is the responsibility of candidate to ensure that the question paper provided is for the admission in the applied class
- If the candidate furnished wrong information then his or her candidature will be cancelled
- If candidate does not appear on the schedule date of test than no retest will be held for such candidate

Some Instructions Regarding Unfair Means And Breach Of Examination Rules
- If any candidate intelligence in any kind of unfair practice during the examination then his or her case will be booked under ufm
- Results of those candidates who indulge in unfair practice will not be declared
- The result of those candidates who appeared from the center other than the one allotted to them or allow another candidate or person to write exam on his behalf will be cancelled
- No plea will be entertain in this regard

Eligibility Criteria Of Candidates
- Only those students who belong to schedule caste can apply under this scheme
- The student must be studying in class 8th and 10th in the current academic year
- Annual income of the parents should be Rs 2.5 lakh or less
- Those candidates who are applying for class 9th should be born between 1st April 2006 to 31st March 2010
- Those candidates who are applying for class 11th should be born between 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2008
- There is no entrance fees for the examination
- Applicant must be permanent president of India

SHRESHTA Scheme Admit Card
- A provisional admit card will be issued to the candidate through NTA website
- The candidate have to download this admit card
- Candidate is not allowed to appear at the examination centre other than the centre allotted to him or her in his or her admit card
- If the candidate is not able to download admit cards from the website then he or she should approach the helpline which is 011407590000 between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- All the candidates have to read the instructions printed on the admit card carefully and follow them
- If there is any discrepancy in the particulars of the candidate or his or her photograph and signature shown at the admit card of confirmation page then the candidate may immediately approach the NTA helpline
- No duplicate admit card will be issued at the examination centre
- Candidates are not allowed to make any changes in the admit card
- The candidates have to preserve their admit card in good condition for future reference
- Issue of admit cards does not mean acceptance of eligibility. The eligibility will be scrutinised at subsequent stages of the admission process
