In the next few years, the scheme will add facilities like Bal Vatika (children’s parks), smart classrooms, and trained teachers in schools. It also focuses on basic infrastructure, vocational education, and creative teaching methods.

Schools will be more inclusive, considering different backgrounds, multilingual needs, and various learning abilities of children. The scheme also includes making teaching materials, with a budget of ₹500 per student.

Budget for Punjab under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan 2.0

The Ministry of Education has set aside ₹1102.91 crore for Punjab for the 2024-25 financial year under this scheme. This money is shared between the central and state government in a 60:40 ratio. Out of this, ₹661.75 crore comes from central funds, while ₹441.16 crore is provided by the state government for early education, secondary education, and other parts.

The ministry allocated ₹707.73 crore for primary education and ₹378.62 crore for secondary education. Also, ₹16.55 crore is planned for state education research and training institutes. Punjab has approved a total budget of ₹1126 crore, including funds pending from last year.

Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan 2.0 Budget

A total budget of ₹2.94 lakh crore has been set for this scheme. The plan includes training Anganwadi workers, providing sanitary pads in girls’ hostels, and expanding the Kasturba Gandhi University up to class 12. Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan 2.0 will run from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2026. Out of the total budget, the central government will provide ₹1.85 lakh crore.

The scheme aims to benefit about 11.6 lakh schools, 15.6 crore students, and 57 lakh teachers all over the country.
