Rajasthan Gramin Olympic Khel 2025 Overview
The Rajasthan government has planned this big sports festival to encourage rural sports talent and give athletes a state-level platform. The event is held at village (Gram Panchayat), block, district, and state levels. Six games are included: Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Shooting Ball, Volleyball, Tennis, and Ball Cricket. Krishna Poonia, Commonwealth Games 2010 gold medalist and Chairperson of the Sports Council, is responsible for organizing the event. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved a budget of 40 crore rupees for the games, shared between the Sports and Education departments.

Update as of 2 August: CM Ashok Gehlot will officially start the Rajasthan Gramin Olympic Khel from 5 August 2025.
5 August 2025 will be an important day in Rajasthan:

Update as of 17 April: Rajiv Gandhi Rural and Urban Olympic games will start from 23 June 2025 in rural and urban areas. Online registration for players will begin soon. The government has given a budget of around 130 crore rupees for these joint games. In 2024, more than 29 lakh people took part in the rural Olympics. Encouraged by this success, this year both rural and urban events will happen together for an even bigger sports festival.

More Than 2 Lakh Teams Participate in Rajasthan Gramin Olympic Khel 2025
The Chief Minister announced this special sports fest in his budget speech. This is the state’s first-ever such rural sports festival. Teams from Gram Panchayat level, totaling over 2 lakh, are participating in sports like Kabaddi, Shooting Ball, Volleyball, Hockey, Kho-Kho, Tennis, and Ball Cricket. Around 30 lakh players, including about 19.9 lakh men and 9.2 lakh women, will try to set a world record. The games will run from 29 August to 5 October 2025.
CM Ashok Gehlot is very excited about this event. He visited Jodhpur to start the event, joined by Minister In-charge Subhash Garg, Sports Minister Ashok Chandna, Sports Council Chairperson Krishna Poonia, legislators, and Congress officials.

Four Levels of Rajasthan Gramin Olympic Khel Events
The games will take place at four levels: Gram Panchayat, Block, District, and State. It starts with Gram Panchayat events from 29 August 2025, then Block level on 12 September 2025. District level competitions will run from 22 September to 25 September, and the big State level will be from 2 October to 5 October 2025. About 30 lakh players signed up, including 20 lakh men and 10 lakh women. Kabaddi had the most sign-ups with 11 lakh players.

Committees Formed at Gram Panchayat and Block Level
The government has set up committees at 11,341 gram panchayats and 352 blocks to run the events. The Sarpanch will be the head at gram panchayat level, and the Block level committee will be headed by the Sub-Divisional Officer. For player support like food and travel, 10.38 crore rupees are set aside for gram panchayat level and 7 crore rupees for block level events.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot started this program to give rural athletes a chance to show their talent. Many face challenges like money problems or age limits that stop them from playing.
