Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the Rajasthan Free Mobile Yojana 2025 during the 2024-25 budget speech. This scheme plans to give free smartphones to women heads of about 1.33 crore Chiranjeevi families in Rajasthan. There is news that now all women holding Jan Aadhar Cards in the state will also be included. So, the total number of beneficiaries could reach around 1.35 crore. Along with the phone, free data will be given for three years. This way, women can access government scheme information directly and use digital platforms easily from their homes.
- The government will spend around Rs. 1200 crore on this Free Mobile Yojana in Rajasthan 2025.
- Mobile phones will be distributed at district and block levels through the e-Mitra service. Beneficiary women will need to complete their e-KYC to get the phone.
- This plan is also called Mukhyamantri Digital Seva Yojana.
Update as on 28th July: Under the Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Scheme, distribution will start from 10th August.
Update as on 09th June: Special help is being prepared to aid women in buying their own mobiles if tendering is not done.
The government is thinking about a new method where eligible women will receive funds directly in their bank accounts to buy phones of their choice. CM Ashok Gehlot announced that about 1.33 crore women will get phones in three phases, starting around Rakshabandhan when 40 lakh phones will be delivered.
