This loan waiver applies to small and marginal farmers with land up to 5 acres. Earlier, the Punjab government waived loans for 5.63 lakh farmers totaling ₹4610 crore – including 1.34 lakh small and 4.29 lakh marginal farmers. Small farmers had ₹980 crore waived, and marginal farmers ₹3630 crore.
