PM-Wani Yojana

PM-WANI Yojana 2025 – Registration Process and Free Wi-Fi Benefits is a powerful step by the Indian government to give you free internet access in public places. This plan is not only about Wi-Fi, it is about helping you grow, learn and connect with the world easily and at no cost.

TRAI has released a new rule (71st Amendment) about internet charges for Public Data Offices (PDOs) under the PM-WANI Scheme. With PM-WANI, even if you do not have mobile data or broadband at home, you can still use the internet in shops, railway stations, bus stands, and other public places. You will be able to study, do work, find jobs, or enjoy entertainment using free Wi-Fi anytime.

If you want to open a Public Data Office (PDO) or become a Wi-Fi provider, here is the simple process to register:

Any small shop owner, tea stall, or service centre can become a PDO and start earning by offering Wi-Fi. No special degree or equipment is needed, just a Wi-Fi router and internet connection.

Users can simply search for available Wi-Fi networks through a mobile app. They can then connect to the internet without using their own mobile data. For businesses, this is a big chance to serve more people and earn more money.

There is no need to worry about cost, as even the setup has no license charges. It is 100% free to register and offer Wi-Fi under this scheme.

PM-WANI Yojana 2025 – Free Wi-Fi Benefits

The full name of this scheme is Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Initiative. It is for all people living in India. The goal is to bring free Wi-Fi to every public place across the country. With this plan, you will get fast and steady internet, and even small shopkeepers can earn more by offering Wi-Fi.

  • Free Wi-Fi at bus stands, railway stations, markets, and more.
  • Anyone can use this service without paying any fee.
  • More jobs will be created as public data centres open across India.
  • No cost or license fee for setting up data centres.
  • Small business owners will earn more by giving Wi-Fi to customers.
  • Wi-Fi providers must register with the telecom department to offer services.
  • Helps in growing the Digital India movement and connecting rural areas.

Many people, especially in villages, towns, and poor areas, cannot afford internet. PM-WANI helps solve this problem. It brings equal chances to everyone — students, workers, and shopkeepers.

Final Decision by TRAI (June 2025):

  • All internet companies offering Fiber to the Home (FTTH) plans must also offer these to PDOs under PM-WANI, but:
  • Price should not be more than double the normal home broadband price of the same speed (up to 200 Mbps).

How Will PM-WANI Wi-Fi Work?

The internet you get through PM-WANI will be provided by small local shops or centres called Public Data Offices (PDOs). These shops will have routers and broadband connections from telecom companies.

People like you can connect to this Wi-Fi using an app. You just open the app, select a nearby Wi-Fi hotspot, and connect. No long forms or hidden charges.

Even small tea stalls or kirana shops can become PDOs and start earning by providing public Wi-Fi. This also supports local digital shops.
