How Nekar Samman Yojana Works
Karnataka has about 54,786 registered handloom weavers who work with silk, cotton, wool, and other related activities. The government plans to support these skilled workers by giving Rs. 2,000 each as yearly help. In the first phase, around 19,744 weavers received this money through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The yearly budget for this scheme is estimated at Rs. 10.96 crore.
So far, 40,634 weavers have registered on the Seva Sindhu portal, and 37,314 applications have been approved. Additionally, the government is also giving Rs. 2,000 as one-time help to workers in the power loom sector, with money sent to the bank accounts of 8,897 eligible workers, out of an estimated 1.25 lakh.
