Purpose of Kishori Shakti Yojana

The scheme aims to raise awareness among girls who left school about health, home management, nutrition, and menstrual hygiene. They will get both formal and informal education and training for jobs and starting businesses. This will help their overall growth, making them ready to face life’s challenges confidently.   • The Women and Child Development Department runs the scheme through Anganwadi centers.

Main Features of Maharashtra Kishori Shakti Yojana

  • Girls from BPL families who dropped out of school or college, between 11 and 18 years old, will get training on health, hygiene, education, and handling daily challenges.
  • Each village will select 18 girls, who will receive training under supervision from the department, ANMs, and Anganwadi workers.
  • The state government will spend Rs. 1 lakh yearly per selected girl.
  • Programs like Kishori Melas and Kishori Arogya Camps will educate girls about nutrition and personal cleanliness.
  • Girls will get 600 calories, 18 to 20 grams of protein, and other nutrients daily for 300 days each year to support physical growth.
  • Both formal and informal education will be given to selected girls.
  • Girls will learn house management, healthy eating habits, menstrual hygiene, and self-care.

Eligibility for Maharashtra Kishori Shakti Yojana

  • The girl must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra.
  • She should be between 11 and 18 years old.
  • Only girls from BPL cardholder families qualify.
  • For skill training, she must be aged 16 to 18.

How to Apply for Maharashtra Kishori Shakti Yojana

You don’t have to go anywhere to apply. Anganwadi workers will visit homes in Maharashtra to survey and pick eligible girls. The list of selected girls will be sent to the Women and Child Development Department. After confirming their eligibility, these girls will be registered under the scheme and given a Kishori Card. This card helps girls get all benefits offered under the scheme.
