Understanding UP Khet Talab Yojana 2025
Irrigation plays a big role in farming and needs plenty of water. Most Indian farmers, especially in Uttar Pradesh, use electric tubewells or other water sources. Using these too much lowers groundwater levels and raises farming costs. Thats why the Uttar Pradesh government has brought back the Khet Talab Yojana. This scheme helps farmers build a small pond (talab) in their fields to collect rainwater. Farmers can then use this saved water later for irrigation. Lets find out more about how this scheme works in 2025.

Overview of UP Khet Talab Yojana 2025
The UP government first started the Khet Talab Yojana in 2013 but had to pause it. Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath restarted it in Uttar Pradesh. This plan helps farmers by giving a 50% subsidy on the cost of making a pond in their field. This way, farmers can collect rainwater and save it for their crops. These ponds also help improve groundwater levels and reduce the high costs caused by tubewell irrigation. Plus, farmers can use these ponds to start fish farming for extra income.

Phase 2: Covered 44 districts including drought-prone areas with 3084 ponds made, costing 27.88 crore.
Purpose of UP Khet Talab Yojana 2025
This scheme is made to help farmers by providing enough water for irrigation through rainwater harvesting ponds. In Uttar Pradesh, rice is a major crop needing lots of water but dropping groundwater levels cause problems.
