KCR Kit Scheme 2025 Overview
This scheme supports pregnant women who deliver in government hospitals by providing financial help and a kit containing baby and mother care items. Women get a total of Rs. 12,000 in cash assistance in three stages during pregnancy and after delivery. Also, if the baby is a girl, an extra Rs. 1,000 is given. The scheme covers benefits for up to two childbirths per woman.
After childbirth, mothers receive a special KCR Kit with 16 essential items needed for up to three months. These include baby oil, soaps safe for mother and child, mosquito net, clothes, handbag, toys, diapers, talcum powder, shampoo, saree, baby bed, towel, and sanitary napkins. Also, after two antenatal check-ups completed within 5.5 months of the last menstrual period, a Rs. 3,000 bonus is credited.
After delivery, more cash is transferred into bank accounts: Rs. 4,000 for a male baby and Rs. 5,000 for a female baby. After the first immunization of the child, Rs. 2,000 is deposited, followed by Rs. 3,000 after the second immunization within 9 months.
Recent Update on KCR Nutrition Kit Program
As of April 30, 2024, the Telangana government expanded the KCR Nutrition Kit program across the state after a successful pilot in nine districts. The administration approved Rs. 273.327 crores to cover all 33 districts, aiming to reduce anemia and improve hemoglobin levels in pregnant women.
The nutrition kit contains 500 grams of ghee, three bottles of iron syrup, 1 kg of dates, 1 kg of nutritious mix powder, and a cup.
