About Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana 2024
The Chief Minister of Odisha Mr. Naveen Patnaik launched Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana on 27th June 2016 for the students of Odisha who want to pursue higher education. The government is going to provide educational loans up to Rs 10 lakh through this scheme at only a 1% rate of interest. The balance interest will be paid by the Higher Education Department of the government of Odisha. With the implementation of this scheme, the financial burden of education on the parents as well as on students will be reduced. All the courses like law, management, engineering, medicine, etc will be covered under this scheme.

The main objective of Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana is to provide educational loans so that all those students who want to pursue higher education but due to their financial condition are unable to do so can get the chance to study further. Benefits And Features of Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana

- This scheme was launched on 27 June 2016 for student of Odisha who wants to pursue higher education
- Through this scheme, the government provides financial assistance to students in the form of educational loans up to Rs 10 lakh
- The beneficiary is required to pay only a 1% rate of interest on the amount of the loan
- All the courses like medical, engineering, law, management, etc will be covered under this scheme
- The balance rate of interest will be paid by the higher education department of the Government of Odisha
- If the loan amount is up to Rs 7.5 lac then the repayment period of this loan is 10 years
- If the loan amount is up to Rs 10 lakh then the repayment period of this loan is 15 years
- Educational loan under this Yojana can be availed from scheduled banks
- Only the citizens of Odisha can apply under this scheme
- The annual family income of the applicant must not be more than Rs 600000 per annum
- The interest rate is zero during the moratorium period under this scheme
Interest Subvention in Moratorium Period
The moratorium period is a time period in which the borrower is not obliged to make any kind of repayment of the loan. In this period the borrower is not required to make any payment of EMI. This is basically a kind of waiting period. For educational loans, the moratorium period is the period of course including one year. It varies from bank to bank. Under this Yojana, the government provides financial assistance by subventing the interest of repayment and moratorium period after the course student is completed.

- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Odisha
- The annual family income of the applicant must not be more than 6 lakh per annum
- Applicant must not be getting the benefit of the similar scheme from Central or state government
- The terms and conditions of the loan will be as per norms of individual schedule banks
