The scheme will run in two phases. First, 2,240 cow shelters will be included. After forming 2,800 groups, the second phase of dung buying will begin. Cow dung is useful as fuel and fertilizer. The government will buy cow dung at Rs 2 per kilogram under this scheme.

On May 21, at a confidence meet in Sankra Patan of Durg district, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will transfer payments online to Godhan Nyay beneficiaries. Between May 1 and May 15, about 1.98 lakh quintals of cow dung were purchased, and Rs 3.95 crore has been paid to rural cattle keepers. Payments of Rs 5.66 crore to cow shelter committees and Rs 3.96 crore to self-help groups are also included.
So far, about 3,41,712 rural cattle keepers have benefited from this scheme, of which 46% are women. This scheme helps villagers and landless families. Nearly 2 lakh landless families have gained job opportunities and a livelihood through cow dung sales at shelters under this popular scheme.

Purpose of Godhan Nyay Yojana
