Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel started this scheme on Teacher’s Day with the theme “Jabo Balwadi Badhabo Shiksha Ke Gadi”. This program runs Balwadis for kids aged 5 to 6 years throughout the state. Each Balwadi has an Anganwadi helper and an assistant teacher from the nearby primary school. The assistant teacher gets an extra ₹500 salary per month. Both the teachers and helpers have been specially trained to teach children through fun play methods. This scheme aims to create a happy, interesting environment that helps kids develop their brain skills through play since 85% of brain development happens in childhood.

Under this Balwadi Yojana, children will learn in fun ways through play. In the academic session 2024-25, about 68,054 children will benefit from 5,173 Balwadis. The government has approved ₹1,00,000 for each Balwadi for child-friendly furniture, play materials, and painting. Learning materials called “Bal Vatika” have been made for these Balwadis.
The Balwadis will operate inside school campuses two hours before lunch break. Out of 6,536 Anganwadi centers in the state, 5,173 have already been changed into Balwadis. From approximately 3.23 lakh children aged 5 to 6 years, around 68,054 will benefit in this academic year.
