How Much Bonus Will Farmers Get?
The Central Government set the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy at Rs 2183 per quintal for the Kharif season 2024-25. Chhattisgarh Government will buy paddy at Rs 3100 per quintal as promised during elections. The difference of Rs 970 per quintal will be given to farmers as a bonus under the Krishak Unnati Yojana.
Each farmer can sell up to 21 quintals of paddy per acre. For this, farmers will get a maximum bonus of Rs 19,257 per acre under the scheme.
Increased Benefit to Farmers Compared to Before
This year, the government plans to buy 130 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, aiming to pay nearly Rs 40,000 crore to farmers on MSP basis. Earlier, the limit was 15 quintals per acre, which is now increased to 21 quintals.
At Rs 3100 per quintal, farmers will earn Rs 23,355 more profit per acre. The total amount received per acre by farmers selling 21 quintals at Rs 3100 will be Rs 65,100, which is much higher than before.
Registration and Purchase Status
Paddy purchase under this scheme started from 1st November. Food and Civil Supplies Department set the maximum purchase at 21 quintals per acre. Farmers who sold paddy at MSP earlier will also benefit from the 21 quintal limit.
26.86 lakh farmers have registered to sell paddy at MSP. The registered paddy covers 33.15 lakh hectares. About 9.25 lakh farmers have already sold 42.20 lakh metric tonnes of paddy at MSP.
