Earlier, consumers had to pay Rs. 4.50 per unit, but now they pay just Rs. 2.50 per unit for consumption up to 400 units under this scheme.
CG Half Bijli Bill Yojana mainly helps BPL and other home electricity users. To get this discount, consumers must not have any unpaid electricity bills.
So far, about 41.94 lakh home electricity users and 16.82 lakh BPL consumers have received benefits under this scheme.

Increase in Home Electricity Consumers Over 3 Years
This scheme has provided relief to many poor and middle-class families in Chhattisgarh. More than 3,10,070 consumers in different districts received a 50% discount worth over Rs. 140.92 crore. The number of beneficiaries has grown steadily over the years.
According to the Chhattisgarh Electricity Distribution Company, in 2019-20, about 293,500 home consumers got Rs. 40.9 crore worth of discounts. In 2020-21, 341,118 consumers were given Rs. 54.85 crore as discount.
Four Years of Successful Implementation
For four years, the government has given a 50% discount on electricity bills up to 400 units. Until now, consumers have saved Rs. 3236.59 crore in total. The number of people getting the benefit has increased from 25.23 lakh to 41.94 lakh in this time.
