This year, around 25,000 devotees from Assam will get the chance to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya through this scheme. The scheme supports spiritual travel along with the existing Punya Dham project, which helps pilgrims visit holy cities like Varanasi, Puri, and Vrindavan.

In Assam’s state budget for 2024–25, the government focused a lot on protecting religious heritage and promoting spiritual tourism. They have allocated Rs 240 crore to preserve Batadrava, an important monastic place linked to the 16th-century Neo-Vaishnavite movement. The government will also send 25,000 pilgrims to Ram Mandir in Ayodhya under Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana 2025.

Goal of Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana

This project aims to strengthen spiritual connections and promote cultural harmony across communities. The government has set aside Rs 25 crore to support 25,000 pilgrims travelling to Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, making sure devotees can get easy access and help throughout their journey.

Benefits of Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana

  • Up to 15% of loans above 85% CGTMSE cover are guaranteed.
  • The State Government pays CGTMSE’s annual guarantee charges.
  • Full interest on the loan is paid by the State Government.
  • Loans under this scheme require no collateral or processing fees.
  • A moratorium period of 3 to 6 months will be given within the 4-year repayment term.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants should be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • For SC, ST, or PwD candidates, the maximum age limit is 40 years.
  • Applicants’ families should be covered under KALIA/BSKY schemes or have an annual income below Rs 2 lakh.
  • Applicant must have a UDYAM number or be registered accordingly.

Who Cannot Apply? Exclusions

  • Employees of the state, central government, PSU, or legislative bodies and their families.
  • Anyone who is a defaulter in banks or financial institutions or has unpaid loans from similar government schemes.

How Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana Works

  • Applicants will register and apply through a designated website or Mo-Seva Kendra services.
  • After submitting the application, the assigned bank will verify documents and visit the applicant’s field for inspection.
  • During this visit, the bank will help the applicant prepare a simple project report for loan approval.
  • Once approved and the applicant deposits margin money, the loan amount will be given by the bank.
  • The scheme is supervised by committees at State, District, and Block levels to make sure everything runs smoothly.
