Benefits of CM-KISAN Yojana

The CM KISAN Yojana is a farmer welfare scheme introduced by the Odisha government for the financial year 2024-25. It aims to accelerate agricultural prosperity and empower farmers by covering 92% of cultivators, including loanee and non-loanee farmers, as well as landless agriculture households. Below are the key benefits provided under the scheme:

1. Input Support to Cultivators for Cultivation

  • Small and marginal farmers will receive financial assistance of Rs. 4,000 per annum, provided in two installments of Rs. 2,000 per crop season.
  • This financial aid can be used for the purchase of essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
  • The funds can also be utilized to cover labor charges and other field investments, based on the farmer’s preference.

2. Livelihood Support for Landless Agricultural Households

  • The scheme supports landless agricultural households by promoting Livestock, Fishery, and Horticulture-based activities. These activities are essential for increasing the income of landless households, whose wages from labor are often insufficient.
  • The following livelihood units are offered:
    • Small goat rearing units
    • Mini layer units
    • Dual-purpose low-input technology bird units
    • Duckery units
    • Fishery kits for fishermen
    • Mushroom cultivation
    • Beekeeping
    • Dairy farming
    • Tasar farming
  • Landless households can choose any one of the livelihood units, as per their preference.
  • Additionally, financial assistance of Rs. 12,500 is provided in three tranches to enhance the income and wellbeing of landless agricultural households.

3. Krushi Bidya Nidhi Scholarship

  • A scholarship component, Krushi Bidya Nidhi, is also part of the CM-KISAN Yojana, aimed at supporting the education of children from beneficiary families.

These interventions under the CM-KISAN Yojana are expected to significantly improve the economic conditions of both cultivators and landless agricultural households in Odisha, contributing to their overall income and wellbeing.
