TSRTC runs more than 9,300 company-owned buses and nearly 3,000 rented ones. Every day, about 42 lakh passengers use TSRTC services to travel within Telangana and to other states. Ticket sales and bus passes bring in around Rs 13 crore daily, but maintenance and fuel costs are higher, causing losses. Higher diesel prices add to these losses, but the introduction of a diesel cess has helped increase revenue a bit.

Free Student Bus Passes in Telangana
For Students Below 12 Years
Students below 12 years can travel free from home to school and back on all days except public holidays.
- In cities, free travel up to 22 KM in City Ordinary Buses.
- In districts, free travel up to 20 KM in Pallevelugu Buses.
- Pass validity covers the full academic year.

For Girl Students up to Class 10 (and under 18 years)
Girl students who meet these criteria also get free bus travel daily (except public holidays) following the same distance limits and rules, valid for the academic year. Applications are accepted at bus pass counters.
