It provides cloth to 32 cutting centres where the cloth is cut and then given to tailoring societies to stitch school uniforms. These uniforms are sent to education department offices like 413 AEEOs and 67 DEOs.
Under this scheme, the government gives 15,500 modern sewing machines to women’s industrial cooperative societies with just 10% subsidy from the government. There are also women tailoring training centers in Salem and Tiruvannamalai, focused on training 35 tribal women every year.
