How Maturity Amount is Calculated

The maturity amount (A) is calculated using this formula:

Withdrawal and Maturity Rules

  • Partial withdrawals: After 3 years of being an account holder, you can withdraw up to 25% for education, serious illness, or if the child has over 75% disability. Limited to 3 times before the child turns 18.
  • Full withdrawal at age 18:
    • If corpus is above INR 2.5 lakh, 80% must be used to buy an annuity; remaining 20% paid as lump sum.
    • If corpus is INR 2.5 lakh or less, the entire amount is paid as lump sum.
  • In case of child’s death: The whole corpus goes to the guardian or parents.

Closing the Account Early

  • You can partially withdraw 25% after 3 years under certain conditions, as described above.
