mPassport Seva – If you are planning to travel abroad for business, tourism, education, medical care, or family visits, a valid passport is essential. With the increasing globalization and economic trends, the demand for passports and related services continues to rise. To address this need, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) initiated the Passport Seva Project. Alongside this initiative, the mPassport app was introduced to provide mobile services to the public. This app is available for smartphones on platforms including iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows.

The mPassport Seva, also called the Mobile Passport Seva, is designed specifically for Indians seeking passport-related information. This lightweight and user-friendly application provides essential details such as passport fees, location and contact information for passport centers, general information about passports, and the status of applications. This initiative, led by the Indian government and the MEA’s CPV (Consular, Passport, and Visa) division, aims to serve all passport-related needs in a transparent and timely manner. The Passport Seva project is one of the largest endeavors under the National e-Government Plan (NeGP) and is executed in partnership with TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) to provide services through over 77 Passport Offices nationwide.

Steps to Apply for a New Passport via mPassport Seva
To apply for a new passport, follow these steps:
- Download the mPassport Seva app available for Android and iOS.
- Open the app after installation.
- The app’s dashboard will appear.
- Click on the New User Register button.
- Choose your Passport Office.
- Enter required details such as name, email ID, and date of birth.
- Create a unique login ID and a secure password.
- Select a security question for password recovery.
- Fill in the captcha and click the Submit button.
- Check your email for a verification link from the passport office to activate your account.
- After activation, restart the app.
- Click on the Existing User tab.
- Enter your Login ID, password, and captcha code.
- Click to apply for a fresh passport.
- Fill out the application form with necessary details.
- Make the payment as required.
- Schedule an appointment for document verification at a passport center.

- Select the Status Tracker.
- Click on the Application Status button.
- Enter your registered file number and date of birth.
- Click on the Track button to view your application status.
