Madhu Babu Pension Scheme was launched by the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha in January 2008 for the first time. This scheme is a merger of two pension schemes named Revised Old Age Pension Rules, 1989, and Disability Pension Rules, 1985. Old-age people or PWD or Widows of the state can apply for this scheme. 09th August Update:- Madhu Babu Pension Yojana expanded for elderly, widows, and other vulnerable groups.

On Monday, the Odisha government announced the expansion of its social security program for the elderly, widows, and other vulnerable groups, adding over 4 lakh new beneficiaries.The ‘Madhu Babu Pension Yojana’ benefits were approved for extra 4.13 applicants by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The choice was made in light of the comments people provided throughout the CMO’s outreach initiative. The scheme now includes 32.75 lakh beneficiaries instead of just 28.61 lakh, expanding its scope. On August 15, in front of elected officials, the newly sanctioned recipients will receive their first pension payment. Beneficiaries of the program include elderly people, widows, people with disabilities, single mothers, people living with HIV/AIDS, transgender people, and families impacted by COVID. They also receive monthly payments of Rs. 500, Rs. 700, and Rs. 900 depending on their category.

Latest Update:- Stipends to Transgender People Approved

A proposal to provide stipends to transgender people in Odisha under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana has been approved by the chief minister, Naveen Patnaik. This was announced on Friday by Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister for Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD). Stipends for transgender people would range from Rs. 500 to Rs. 900 depending on their age. Approximately 6,000 transgender people across the state will gain from this. To receive the benefit, transgender people must submit an online application at https://ssepd.gov.in/, the ministry’s official website. An advance monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 will be given to approximately 48 lakh participants of the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana for a period of four months.

Link Aadhaar with Madhu Babu Pension Yojana

Important information for those who already get the benefits of the scheme is they must have to link their Aadhaar cards with the social welfare link account. To avail of the benefits of the scheme further, all the applicants need to link their Aadhaar with their social welfare link account before 15th March. To link your Aadhaar card you need to submit a photocopy of your Aadhaar card while visiting the Gram Panchayat office or municipal office when visiting to receive a pension.

• Those applicants whose age is 60 years and above
• or a widow of any age
• or leprosy patient with visible signs of deformity of any age
• PWD of any age
• or AIDS patient identified by the State / District AIDS Control Society of any age
• The annual income of the applicants family is must not more than Rs. 24000/-
• Only those who are a permanent resident of Odisha can apply
• Applicant must not get benefits of any other pension scheme of union Government or the state government or any organization aided by either Government

Pension Amount under Madhu Babu Pension

Disbursement of Pension

The beneficiary will get the pension amount on 15th of every month in cash. Disbursement of pension will be made by the BDO or any officer subordinate to BDO (in a rural area) in Gram Panchayat office and by DSSO or any officer subordinate to DSSO at the municipal office in the urban area.

To apply for the scheme you need to apply online or offline. To apply for the scheme through offline mode you need to go to the Office of the Block Development Officer or Executive Officer of the Municipality/NAC. Or to apply online you need to follow the further-mentioned steps:

• Select scheme type and enter a name, father/ husband name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, Aadhar number, district, subdivision, address, and social category
