E Shram Card 2.0 2025 is a new updated version made especially for gig and platform workers in India. If you work using apps or online platforms, this card will help you get social security benefits in a simpler and faster way.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that registering for E Shram Card 2.0 will be easier than ever on the online portal, making the process quick and hassle-free. Shaik Salauddin from the Indian Federation of App-based Transport Workers (IFAT) also mentioned that this card offers important safety and welfare benefits tied to a unique ID for each worker.
With this unique ID, you can carry your government benefits wherever you go in India, even if you move to a different state. This makes it very convenient for gig and platform workers who often travel or work in different locations.
The companies that hire these workers through apps (called aggregator companies) must register their workers on the portal. This helps make sure every worker gets their E Shram Card 2.0.
Since many gig workers use multiple platforms for work, the unique ID will keep track of their contributions from every platform. This helps provide social security benefits without needing a traditional employer.
Overview of E Shram Card 2.0
E Shram Card 2.0 is an improved version of the original e-Shram portal created by the Ministry of Labour & Employment. Its aim is to be a one-stop place where workers in unorganized sectors can register and get access to social security schemes such as health insurance, pension, and financial help during emergencies.
A special committee was set up to provide social security to gig and platform workers – those who work for delivery, ride-sharing, and other app-based jobs without regular employer relationships. To help them, the government gives each worker a unique ID to track their work and benefits.
This card brings more security and support to unorganized workers, making sure they get the help they deserve.

E Shram Card 2.0 Portal
This portal is very important for unorganized workers across India. When you register, you get a Universal Account Number (UAN) that helps you receive many social security benefits. The new E Shram 2.0 portal links data from many social welfare schemes in one place.
India has about 300 million unorganized workers, and so far, 12 different government schemes connect to this portal. More schemes will be added soon to help even more workers.
The government has also asked companies that hire workers through apps to register them on this portal. This way, more workers can easily get the benefits they qualify for.
This system helps track about 20 million gig platform workers in India and lets them access health insurance, pensions, and other social security benefits smoothly.
