Maharashtra Smart Ration Cards
The Maharashtra government introduces the Tricolour Smart Ration Cards program. Based on a set of requirements, Smart Ration Cards are distributed in three different colours: yellow, saffron, and white.
- Yellow Ration Cards: Only families that fall within the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category are given Yellow Ration Cards.
- Saffron Ration Cards: Saffron Ration Cards are available to families with annual incomes of more than Rs. 15,000 but less than Rs. 1 lakh.
- White Ration Cards: These are available to families with a yearly income of at least Rs. 1 lakh.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicants applying for the card must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Families with an annual income of up to Rs. 15,000 were listed in the IRDP for 1997–98.
- No family members should be licensed as a doctor, lawyers, architects, or chartered accountants.
- The household shouldn’t own a four-wheeler or a residential phone.
- The family members must not be professional taxpayers, GST taxpayers, income taxpayers, or otherwise qualified to pay such taxes. (Be more knowledgeable about filing taxes)
- The family should not own more than two hectares of land that is rain-fed, one hectare of land that is semi-irrigated, or half a hectare of land that is irrigated.
