On 11 August 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a big step to help Indian farmers by launching 109 new crop varieties at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi. These crops produce more, handle climate changes better, and are rich in nutrients.
These new crop varieties will strengthen Indian farming and help farmers earn more. Here, you will find the full list of all 109 varieties, which include 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops.

Field Crops
Among these 34 varieties are seeds for millets, oil seeds, pulses, fodder crops, sugarcane, cotton, fiber, and other useful crops. These seeds are developed to produce more and resist climate changes. They suit different parts of India and will help farmers grow more and earn better.
- Millets: New varieties that produce more and are good for the climate.
- Oil Seeds: Improved varieties to increase oil production.
- Pulses: New types of chickpeas, pigeon peas, mung beans, lentils, and others that produce more and have good nutrition.
