Tamil Nadu CM Breakfast Scheme 2025 – Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for kids. When children skip breakfast, they may feel tired, cranky, and restless. To help with this, the Tamil Nadu government started the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme to provide nutritious breakfast to school children.

About Tamil Nadu CM Breakfast Scheme 2025

For the first time in Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister introduced this breakfast scheme to make sure children do not skip this important meal. Many kids rush to school early in the morning and miss breakfast, which affects their energy and mood. This scheme provides free, nutritious breakfast to students in classes 1 to 5 on school days.

  • Under the scheme, around 1.14 lakh students across 1,545 government primary schools get breakfast.
  • The government allocated Rs 33.56 crore for the initial phase starting in 2024.
  • Breakfast will be served through local bodies and will eventually cover the whole state.
  • Each child gets a prepared meal of 150 to 500 grams including sambar and vegetables.

Expansion Update: After seeing a 90% improvement in attendance in the pilot schools, the scheme will expand to all government primary schools. From August 25, 2024, about 15.75 lakh students in 31,008 schools across Tamil Nadu will get free breakfast. The government has set aside Rs 404 crore for this expansion.

Monday Rice Upma or Rava Upma or Semiyya Upma or Wheat Upma served with Vegetable Sambar.
Tuesday Rava Khichdi, Samayal Khichdi, Vegetable Khichdi, or Veet Rava Khichdi with Vegetable Sambar.
Wednesday Rava or Pongal served with Vegetable Sambar.
Thursday Rice & Rava Upma varieties including Rava Kesari and Samayal Kesari.
Friday Rava Khichdi, Samayal Khichdi, Vegetable Khichdi and Kesari varieties.

Note: Menu items may change, and millet foods are included twice a week for added nutrition.
