Pencil Portal and Child Labour in India
Child labour is illegal in India. Children should be in schools and playgrounds, not working. According to the 2011 census, 29% of India’s population is below 14 years, and 10% are between 14 and 18 years. Many children miss out on education and play because they work to support their families. This affects society in a negative way. To stop child labour, the Indian government has made laws and launched the Pencil Portal as an online platform where you can easily report child labour cases. This article explains everything you need to know about the Pencil Portal and how you can use it in 2025.

Overview of Pencil Portal 2025
The Ministry of Labour and Employment started the Pencil Portal to completely stop child labour. The name ‘Pencil’ means children should hold pencils, not work tools. If you see a child working illegally, you can report it online on this portal. Your report can help save a child’s future.
Complaints sent through the Pencil Portal help track children who are working. The government then connects these children with skill development programs. They also get access to education, good nutrition, and other government help to build a bright future.
