Launch Update

On 21st February 2024, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren officially launched Mukhyamantri Gram Gadi Yojana in Morhabadi, Ranchi. The plan connects panchayats to blocks and districts, helping children go to educational institutions easily. Free bus facility will be provided to students, disabled persons, elderly, and activists. Initially, the government plans to run 100 buses, fully managed by the Transport Department.

Important Instructions from the Chief Minister

In October 2024, Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave clear directions to transport officials to make the scheme successful. Routes will focus on places like schools, hospitals, colleges, weekly markets, and railway stations, so villagers can travel easily. A special app will be created to inform people about bus timings and routes, cutting down waiting times.

Progress in Deoghar District

In July 2024, preparations were made to run buses connecting 140 panchayats in Deoghar district. Daily 22 to 42 seat buses will cover 1,533 kms on different routes, linking villages to district centers. These routes were finalized after meetings led by the District Commissioner.

Initial Phase

In the first phase, the government plans to include 500 vehicles to serve rural Jharkhand better. Priority will be given to local villagers, students, farmers, and laborers.

Committees for Smooth Management

District and block-level committees have been formed to monitor vehicle operations. The District Commissioner leads the district committee, which includes representatives from bus associations, Panchayati Raj officials, DDC, DTO, LDM, and BDOs. The block committee is headed by BDO and makes sure the scheme runs smoothly in the area.

Bus stands will be built in villages for easy boarding. Vehicles will have distinct colors so passengers can easily identify them.
