With a record 66 lakh registrations across 39 sports, the yearly state-wide sports competition Khel Mahakumbh 2.0 started on Wednesday night. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that Khel Mahakumbh has given athletes a platform for potential during the event’s opening at TransStadia in Ahmedabad. The government has altered the rules to allow a person to register for two sporting events instead of only one, according to Minister of sporting Harsh Sanghavi, who also thanked the participants on enrolling in record numbers for Khel Mahakumbh. Gujarat is now seen differently because of the Khel Mahakumbh. The state has produced athletes with national and international recognition, and this year the government has declared cash awards of Rs 45 crore for the champions across seven divisions.
Sportspeople now have a stage to display their abilities thanks to the Khel Mahakumbh. Gujarat has produced elite athletes like Sunita Gaikwad, Ankita Raina, Harmeet Desai, and Maana Patel thanks to the Khel Mahakumbh platform. Additionally, Gujarat is preparing to host the Olympic Games in 2036. In addition to the 24 district-level sports facilities that have already been built, the state government has plans to establish sports centres at the taluka level as well.

Gujarat Khel Mahakumbh Awards
Players who win in the sports in which they competed will receive the finalized cash rewards. The top three winners will get prizes according to their Taluka or District level. A monetary prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh, Rs. 1 lakh, and Rs. 75,000 will be given to the district-level winner, second-place finisher, and third-place finisher, respectively. A cash prize of Rs. 75,000 will also be given to the person who finishes first at the Taluka level, along with cash awards of Rs. 15,000 for second place and Rs. 10,000 for third.
