Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav 2025
On 8 March 2024, the Central Government announced the launch of Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav. This scheme is meant to help girls who had to leave their studies for some reason. These girls will be identified and efforts will be made to re-enroll them in school. The Ministry of Women and Child Development along with the Education Department will run this program. Through this scheme, about 4 lakh girls aged between 11 and 18 years will have a chance to continue their education. This project supports existing schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and follows the National Education Policy to promote education among girls.
Anganwadi workers will be encouraged to counsel and refer beneficiaries. With Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav, the focus is on providing formal education to girls. A similar program helped around 11.88 lakh girls in 2018-19, but by 2024, that number dropped to 5.03 lakh.
