Haryana Crop Diversification Scheme 2025
The Haryana government started the Crop Diversification Scheme to help farmers increase their income by encouraging them to grow different crops. If you stop growing paddy, you can get ₹7000 per acre as an incentive. For growing maize, you get ₹2400 per acre, and for pulses like moong, urad, and arhar, the government provides ₹3600 per acre. Each farmer can get incentives for up to 5 acres. In 2025, the state government plans to implement this scheme in 10 districts covering 50,000 acres.

Purpose of Haryana Crop Diversification Scheme 2025
This scheme was started under Mera Pani Meri Virasat to control the dropping groundwater levels in Haryana. Growing paddy uses a lot of water—about 300 liters to produce 1 kg of rice—which causes water shortages in many areas. To save water, the government wants farmers to switch to other crops like cotton, maize, pulses, jowar, castor, groundnut, vegetables, and fruits. These crops get ₹7000 per acre as an incentive and are also bought at minimum support price from the farmers.
This scheme aims to protect groundwater and increase farmers’ income by promoting crops that use less water.

Why Choose Crop Diversification in Haryana?
Growing paddy uses a huge amount of water, which lowers groundwater levels and makes water scarce across the state. To reduce water use and increase farm income, the government encourages farmers to grow alternative crops by offering incentives. You can grow maize, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, or fruits and get support from the government.
By changing your crops, you help keep the land fertile and protect water resources while earning more money.
