The Jharkhand government started this scheme on 17 December 2024 to fight cyber crimes. The main goal is to protect women and children from online crimes. The scheme helps people register cyber crimes online, improve skills, create awareness, and encourage research and development in this area. The government is also focusing on modernizing the police force to handle cyber crime cases better. Every police officer has been asked to work on building a strong system to manage the increase in cyber crimes.
Why the Jharkhand Cyber Crime Prevention Yojana is Needed
In the last 5 years, Jharkhand has recorded 4,803 cyber crime cases. Out of these, 1,536 cases have been solved. This month alone, 355 criminals were arrested. To protect people from such crimes, this scheme was launched. It especially focuses on saving women and children from cyber threats. Schools will also be involved; selected students will get training in community policing to help police cyber cells and protect themselves from cyber crimes. Ten schools from each district will be chosen for this training.

Main Objectives of the Jharkhand Cyber Crime Prevention Yojana
This scheme aims to control the rise of cyber crimes in Jharkhand. It focuses on updating police skills and technology so they can better protect the public. Online Cyber Crime Reporting Unit
An online portal has been started for reporting cyber crimes. Part of the CCTNS project, this portal lets people file complaints easily. It acts as a central place for information related to cyber crime and works with forensic labs to investigate cases.
Forensic Unit
A national cyber forensic lab will operate 24/7. It will have the latest equipment to assist central, state, and union territories’ forensic labs. Cybersecurity experts will work here to support law enforcement in handling cyber crime cases.
Capacity Building Unit
This unit will train police personnel, program officials, judicial officers, and others involved with cyber crime. It will help states and union territories improve their ability to fight cyber crime.
Research and Development Unit
Research is important to stay ahead of cyber crime trends. This unit will work with academic institutions to study cyber crimes and suggest changes to laws. It will also focus on developing new technologies to prevent cyber crimes.
Awareness Building Unit
Raising awareness is key to preventing cyber crime. This unit spreads knowledge among the public, especially in schools, using lessons, portals, and mobile apps. Children and adults will learn how to protect themselves from online threats.
