The Aarogyasri Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to individuals unable to afford medical treatments and surgeries due to economic hardships. Beneficiaries can present their Aarogyasri Card at government health facilities to avail the services under this scheme.

Covid-19 Inclusion in the Aarogyasri Scheme

Currently, the Aarogyasri scheme covers medical expenses up to ₹2,00,000, including treatment for Covid-19 at government hospitals. However, coverage for Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals is yet to be implemented. The government initially planned to cover both sectors but decided to start only with public hospitals for the time being.

  • This scheme also covers various viral fevers, dengue, malaria, typhoid, and swine flu among other serious illnesses. So far, 949 diseases are covered under the scheme, benefiting approximately 77.10 lakh cardholders.
