YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme 2025 Highlights
On World Fisheries Day, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced the YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme at Mummidivaram in the East Godavari district. Under this scheme, around 1,32,332 fishermen aged between 21 and 60 will get Rs 10,000 each annually during the fishing ban period (April to June). The diesel subsidy for fishermen has been raised from Rs 6.03 to Rs 9 per litre for 10 months, covering both mechanized (300 litres) and motorized vessels (3000 litres).

For the sixth year in a row, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will release the scheme funds at Nizampatnam, Bapatla district. A total of Rs 123.52 crore will be deposited into bank accounts of 1,23,519 fisherman families as support for the fishing ban period (April 15 to June 14), paying Rs 10,000 per household.
Also, Rs 108 crore will be directly transferred to 23,458 fishermen families in Konaseema and Kakinada districts who lost their livelihood due to ONGC pipeline construction.
Since the YSRCP government began, a total of Rs 538 crore has been given as financial support under this scheme. Each fisherman family has received around Rs 50,000 in total, Rs 10,000 every year.
How YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Scheme Works
The Andhra Pradesh government will set up integrated water labs at 46 locations with a budget of Rs 56.53 crore. These labs will test water quality, sand, fish feed, and seeds to help fish farmers. About Rs 720 crore is allocated to provide electricity to 53,550 fish farmers at Rs 1.50 per unit.
The government also offers fishing rights on rivers for rent at a low fee. It provides subsidies on inputs and releases fingerlings into rivers to increase fish breeding.
