What is National Apprenticeship Training (NATS)?

The National Apprenticeship Training program is a useful way to learn many skills required for various jobs. It offers many courses on the NATS website that help students across India improve their skills and get better job opportunities. With this program, students can sharpen their talents and gain practical experience that matches industry needs.

National Apprenticeship Training for General Stream Students

The NATS board has announced that graduates in general streams like BA, BSc, and BCom can now join apprenticeship training. The training period ranges from 6 months to 3 years. This program is run by the Ministry of Education’s Board of Apprenticeship Training. It mainly lasts one year and helps technically qualified youth gain the practical knowledge needed in their field.

Apprenticeship for Non-Technical Courses

Earlier, NATS mainly helped students in technical courses. Now, the government is including non-technical students such as those studying BA, BCom, and BSc. This update covers apprenticeships for graduates, technicians, and degree holders from 2024-25 to 2025-26. The Ministry of Skill Development has set aside around Rs 3000 crore for this scheme. India has also partnered with the UAE to certify skills and build a skilled workforce.
