On June 21, 2024, CM Naveen Patnaik chaired a cabinet meeting where the Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana was one of 15 welfare schemes discussed. This program focuses on delivering nutritious food to adolescent girls aged 15 to 19 without any caste discrimination. Furthermore, the initiative plans to hold Kishori Melas for health screenings, particularly for anemia. Through this welfare scheme, the Odisha government aims to enhance the nutritional status of pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and adolescent girls across the state, with implementation set to begin in 2024 for a duration of five years.
This scheme was introduced with the goal of addressing the nutritional needs of mothers, girls, and children. It includes provisions for providing additional dry food to pregnant women and lactating mothers, nutritional supplements for all adolescent girls aged 15 to 19, and complete meals for children who are severely malnourished. Nutrient-enriched Chhatua and eggs will also be provided to moderately underweight and severely malnourished children.
