Overview of the Mizoram SEDP Scheme 2025
In response to prevailing economic challenges, the state government has introduced the Mizoram SEDP Scheme to provide much-needed financial support to families. The program aims to reach 300,000 families over the years, with the initial disbursement being Rs 50,000 per family. The Mizoram government has allocated 700 crore rupees for the execution of this scheme, with 350 crore rupees specifically set aside for family development initiatives. An estimated 60,000 individuals will benefit from this program statewide. Eligible applicants will need to submit their applications to a local SEDP committee as outlined in the policy guidelines.
On the day of the launch, checks totaling 152.99 billion rupees were distributed to 9 departments by the Chief Minister. Assistance under this scheme will be provided across various sectors, including agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, land resources, irrigation, trade, urban development, poverty alleviation, and tourism among others.
The scheme encompasses 11 districts and covers over 70 livelihoods. This gives participants the opportunity to choose from multiple professions across nine different sectors. To ensure the economic upliftment of around 60,000 beneficiaries, each eligible family will receive a financial grant of Rs 50,000, with an aim of supporting 1,500 beneficiaries from each of the 40 Assembly Constituencies.
