Good news for Karnataka residents who are stuck in other states due to the COVID-19 lockdown. To help migrant workers get back safely, the Karnataka government has started a special online portal called ‘Seva Sindhu’. This portal lets you register online to travel back to your home state or district.
How to Register for Karnataka Migrant Workers 2025
The Karnataka government began this online registration following advice from the Ministry of Home Affairs to help migrant workers stuck in or outside Karnataka. The portal Seva Sindhu makes it easy for you to register your details if you are stuck inside Karnataka or any other state and want to return. Registration opened on 2 May and you can apply anytime on the official website.

Documents & Information Needed for Registration
To register on the Seva Sindhu portal, have the following details ready:
- Your full name
- Passport number (if you have one)
- Visa details (if you have one)
- Country where you are currently living
- Current state address
- Aadhaar number
- Your mobile number
- Your age
- Gender (Male/Female)
- Residential address

Step-by-Step Karnataka Migrant Registration Process
There are three categories for registration depending on your travel plans:
1. Travelling to other Indian states from Karnataka
- Go to the official Seva Sindhu website.
- Click on “Travel to Karnataka from other states.”
- Fill in your name, mobile number, current and destination addresses.
- Say whether you are travelling alone or with family.
- Mention if you or your family have been tested for COVID-19.
- Choose your travel mode: own vehicle or government arrangement.
- Provide details about your home quarantine facility – whether you have a separate room and toilet.
- Submit the form and save your reference ID for future use.

2. Travelling from other countries to Karnataka
- Visit the Seva Sindhu portal.
- Click on “Travel to my own district within Karnataka.”
- Enter all the required details as above.
- Submit and save your reference ID.

3. Travelling To Karnataka From Other Indian States
- Go to the official website.
- Click “Travel to other states.”
- Fill in your details correctly and submit.
- Keep your reference ID safe.

Important Return Guidelines & Rules
Follow these rules when you return to Karnataka, as advised by the Ministry of Health:
- Passengers from high-risk states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will stay in a government quarantine centre for 7 days.
- COVID-19 tests will be done for returnees between their 5th and 7th day.
- Others are advised to stay in home quarantine.
- Pregnant women, people over 80 years old with an attendant, health workers, and defence personnel are exempt from institutional quarantine.
- Registration on Seva Sindhu is required to enter Karnataka.
Updates and Important Notes
- Migrant worker registration is only done online via the Seva Sindhu portal.
- Registration is for both inter-district and inter-state travel.
- You will get travel and registration status updates within 2 days of applying.
- Buses run for inter-district travel from 3rd May between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
- Shramik special trains have started running to help migrant workers.
