Many women suffer from malnutrition during pregnancy, which can affect their health and their child’s well-being for a long time. To tackle this, the Telangana government started the Arogya Lakshmi Scheme, which supports pregnant and breastfeeding women by providing nutritious meals. This article explains the Arogya Lakshmi Scheme 2025 in simple terms, including its benefits, features, eligibility, and how you can apply.
About Arogya Lakshmi Scheme 2025
The Telangana government introduced the Arogya Lakshmi Scheme to give balanced meals to pregnant and lactating women. Meals are served at Anganwadi centres along with iron and folic acid tablets to improve nutrition and health. This scheme began on 1st January 2013 and runs through about 31,897 main Anganwadi centres and 4,076 mini centres across Telangana.
The full meal includes rice, dal with leafy vegetables or sambar, vegetables for at least 25 days a month, a boiled egg, and 200 ml of milk every day for 30 days. This meal provides 40% to 45% of the daily calorie, protein, and calcium needs for women. For children aged 7 months to 3 years, 16 eggs per month are provided, and children aged 3 to 6 years receive 30 eggs per month.
Objective of Arogya Lakshmi Scheme 2025
The main goal is to stop malnutrition among pregnant and breastfeeding women. The scheme helps reduce anemia and supports healthy birth weight for babies. It also lowers infant and maternal mortality rates by providing health checkups, vaccinations, and nutritional support.
