Air Suvidha Portal – The Indian government introduced Air Suvidha in August to make foreign travel simple and hassle-free. For all international travelers returning to India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have developed a contactless solution in collaboration with Delhi Airport. However, many travelers have recently voiced their dissatisfaction with the website’s inefficiency and urged that international travelers not be required to use the portal.
Air Suvidha Portal: What Is It?
Foreign travelers going back to India must complete a self-declaration form. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has ordered it. The Air Suvidha online system, which is described on the company’s official website, allows international passengers to submit a required Self Declaration form to disclose their current health status. The application requires travelers to provide information about their trip as well as their status with regard to covid-19 immunization or testing. Additionally, their application will be forwarded to the Airport Health Organization (APHO), under the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. At the APHO counter in India for immigration, passengers must provide the application.
Air Suvidha Portal to ReOpen
Mansukh Mandaviya, the health minister, said that travelers from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore nations would be required to have a negative RT-PCR test. The government has not yet updated its recommendations for international travelers. The regulations, which were most recently revised on December 22, 2024, mandate that 2% of passengers on every international flight submit to random testing. International visitors to Thailand are no longer needed to present any documentation of their immunization status or ATK test results as of October 1, 2024.

What Advantages Does Air Suvidha Portal Offer?
It makes it easier for the government to monitor travelers from high-risk areas. Additionally, the portal offers statistics and tracks trends in case there is an increase in COVID-19 cases.
What are Air Suvidha Portal’s Demerits?
Passengers have recently voiced their dissatisfaction with the portal’s bugs. Airlines refuse to board passengers at foreign airports if they do not have an Air Suvidha acknowledgment certificate. Due to postal issues, passengers also claimed that their passports were not uploaded. As a result, the tourism industry is once again experiencing losses as many travelers are unable to arrive at their destinations on time.
Due to last-minute cancellations and itinerary modifications brought on by Air Suvidha’s non-availability, passengers are also losing a lot of money.
What Is the Situation Right Now?
Following several requests and objections, the Civil Aviation Ministry declared that the website would be completely redone. International travelers won’t need to upload a copy of their passport to the new portal. Additionally, travelers who are traveling with their families can enter all of their information in one place. Passengers must still upload their COVID-19 test results or vaccination status, as appropriate.
A report claims that the administration is thinking of doing away with the requirement for Air Suvidha as of August. Unofficial announcements have not yet been made.
Here is a list of things everyone traveling by international airline into India should do before taking off: While we discuss and argue the usefulness of this and earnestly hope someone would bring some rationality into the process:
1. Check requirement of negative RT-PCR certificate –
a. Passengers who are fully immunized and traveling to one of the countries on the MoHFW’s list (https://www.newdelhiairport.in/pdf/ListofCountries-14June2024.pdf) must upload one of two documents: a certificate attesting to the completion of the full primary vaccination schedule for Covid-19 vaccination with the date, or a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR report (test conducted within 72 hours prior to embarking on the journey
b. If arriving at the airport from a nation not included on the list, a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR report is required.
Therefore, schedule the test for a suitable period in the nation of flight origin. If you have a trustworthy travel agent, great, but if not, the employees at the nearby hotels should be able to assist.
2. Fill out the form as soon as possible, preferably before you leave for the airport. It can be filled at any time prior to boarding and there is no deadline for doing so. If you don’t need a blood rush or are only interested in visiting the airport and not at all interested in taking the journey home, DON’T leave it to be done there.
3. Budget time: Give yourself 30 minutes to get your documents in order and complete the process.
4. Have the following information and documentation available for each passenger:
a. Basic passport details
b. The flight information and seat number. Those who haven’t checked in should put “00” next to their seat number. Remember that the website states that it is the passenger’s responsibility to modify the SDF and supply the right seat number before boarding the plane. This is a necessary criterion that must be met in order to locate contacts.
5. The necessary documents, along with details, are listed below for uploading:
a. Passport.
c. RT-PCR Negative Certificate (if applicable).
6. File specifications: Now here comes the masterclass.
A PDF file must be used for all of the aforementioned documents (word doc, jpeg, png, etc. not allowed). Therefore, please use one of the online PDF converters to convert any scan images or word documents containing pictures you may have. You’ll be helped by Google Baba.
b. Only hyphens and underscores are allowed in file names; special characters are not allowed. Therefore, if your file name contains a space (for example, “Passport self”), please use your file name editing skills to remove the space or substitute a hyphen or underscore for it. The laptop is useful in this situation.
c. File Size: Each document must be no larger than 1 MB. The website is useful and states that “To reduce file size, passengers can download any of the free apps that are available on both iOS and Android. To minimize the file size, iOS users can utilize PDF Compressor, and Android users can download the Compress PDF app. Here is your quick guide to compressing PDF files.
7. Visit https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration and log in. Start by entering the information for the main traveler. If you have companions, you must add the total number of passengers at the end of the form and then complete each passenger’s information separately. If there had been a way to duplicate the fundamental flight information—like the destination location and contact information—that would have been helpful. God, however, also needs methods to teach us patience.
8. You might be unsure about what to submit or upload for children who have not yet been subject to immunization requirements.
You can try leaving the details blank, and if the form insists, you might be able to get away with uploading the parents’ information.
9. Before pressing the Submit button, remember to say a prayer. After submission, the form issues a Registration number or application reference number, which is sent via email to the principal applicant’s email address.
10. Travelers must bring a printout or a soft copy of their application to the airport, where it will be duly reviewed and boarding passes will be provided.
11. Once you get your boarding credentials, don’t forget to celebrate with a fist pump and a traditional treat.
It may not be too far-fetched to see some clever Indians opening up shop at international airports in the near future to make this process easier, similar to the countless ticketing agents that swarm the area around our railway stations. Until then, if you are flying into India, be sure to abide by the aforementioned rules, spread the news, and receive a tonne of blessings!
