Karnataka Mango Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS) 2025 – Check Benefits

Karnataka Mango Price Deficiency Payment Scheme

Karnataka Mango Price Deficiency Payment Scheme 2025 is a great step by the Karnataka government to support mango farmers. This scheme helps farmers when they are forced to sell mangoes at low prices. If your mangoes are sold below the fixed market price, the government gives you some money as compensation. This helps reduce your loss and gives you fair support for your hard work.

Many farmers in Karnataka grow mangoes on a large scale. Sometimes due to market rates, weather, or overproduction, prices go down. That’s when this scheme becomes helpful. Under the Karnataka Mango Price Deficiency Payment Scheme, the government pays you the difference amount if the price goes below a certain level. It’s like price protection for your mangoes.

About Karnataka Mango Price Deficiency Payment Scheme

This scheme is specially for mango farmers in Karnataka. If you are a farmer who sells mangoes through the official APMC mandis, then you are eligible for this scheme. You can get money if you sell mangoes at a price lower than the government fixed price of ₹1616 per quintal. But the government will give a maximum of 25% of this price as compensation.

Karnataka government has kept a budget of ₹101 crore for this scheme. This means that many farmers can get help under it. Around 8 to 10 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes are grown every year in Karnataka on about 1.39 lakh hectares. The major mango-growing districts are Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur.

Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has also supported this scheme by approving the procurement of 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes under PDPS. The scheme will stay active for one month from the first sale date in the APMC mandi. So it’s important to sell your mangoes through these registered markets to get the benefits.

In a letter dated June 24, 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare approved the procurement of 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes under PDPS, fixing the Market Intervention Price (MIP) at Rs 1,616 per quintal. Compensation will be capped at 25 per cent of the MIP in case of a price shortfall.
